I was watching PBS tonight and saw a lot of Super-8 on a documentary called "Lost Liners" It's about fishing ships being lost at sea. There's a least 10 minutes of home movies shot in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was a bit grainy and beat up, but looked cool. Some stuff looked better than others. There was what looked like to me some Ektachrome 160 for some ship interiors and K-40 for exteriors.
You west coasters may be able to catch it if you see this message soon enough.

The BBC put out about 30 minutes of home movies in a one hour documentary on Big Liz (HM QE 2 DF etc)which included 1930s colour through to 1970s super 8. It is the sort of programme that could be on the BBC TV World Service some time - no heavy copyright problems. Probably worth checking their schedules.
